The old town of Visoki was a famous medieval town and fortress that was built during the 14th century on the Visočica hill. It is located on top of a hill 213 meters high at an altitude of 766.5 meters above sea level, about 300 meters above the valley where the town of Visoko developed. Although historically significant, the old town of Visoki was not large in size, about 60 meters long and 25 meters wide, and it had two towers that protected it along its entire length. There are several traces of buildings in the city itself. The thickness of the wall is about 2 meters and it is mainly built from local limestone slabs. The old town of Visoki was mentioned for the first time on September 1, 1355 in the charter of the young ban Tvrtko I. Kotromanić, under the title “in castro nosto Visoka vocatum”, which means that during the reign of his predecessor ban Stjepan II Kotromanić, in the first half of the 14 century, it was built or already existed. With the Ottoman conquest of Bosnia, the city was abandoned before 1503, because it is not mentioned in the Turkish-Hungarian treaty from that year. In 1626, Đorđić mentioned Visoki among the abandoned towns. Today, the old town is the High National Monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun is the largest pyramid in the world, with a height of over 220 meters. It has a regular pyramid geometry with three well-preserved sides: north, east and west. The pyramid is covered with concrete blocks which, according to the analyzes of the Bosnian and Italian materials institutes, have high compressive strength and low water absorption, which makes them superior to modern concrete. Radar scans by German geophysicists in 2007 confirmed the existence of internal passages in the pyramid. Croatian physicists (in 2010) discovered the existence of an energy beam with a radius of 4.5 meters passing through the top of the pyramid, while Italian and Finnish experts (in 2011) recorded the phenomenon of ultrasound at the top of the pyramid. During the summer months, the shadow of the Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun covers the Bosnian Pyramid of the Moon just before sunset, showing a clear astronomical relationship between the two pyramids. The pyramid is covered with layers of soil and vegetation similar to hundreds of pyramids in China, Mexico or Guatemala.
The Bosnian Pyramid of the Moon is 190 meters high, which is higher than the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt (147 meters). It was built using a combination of processed sandstone and clay slabs. Nearby there are sandstone quarries, as well as a source of clay that was used as a binder, waterproofing material and insulation. Organic material was found between two layers at archaeological trench number 20 on the west side of the pyramid, which, according to radiocarbon analysis by the Institute of Physics at the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice, Poland (2011), dates back to 10,350 years ago. BCE. The Materials Institute of the University of Zenica confirmed that there is a difference in the strength and porosity of individual sandstone slabs in the same row, which confirms that the sandstone slabs were processed at different depths in the quarries. Sandstone is a building material that is still used today because of its good characteristics. Beneath the Bosnian Moon Pyramid there is an accumulation of water that is connected to watercourses with the Dragon and Sun Pyramids.
Ravne Tunnels – Under the Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun, a complex network of passages, intersections, chambers and underground reservoirs was built. The discovery of this labyrinth was announced by the discoverer of the Bosnian pyramids, dr. Semir Osmanagić in his book in 2005, basing his hypothesis on similar examples of underground tunnels in Egypt, China and Mexico. Until then, it was believed that the low entrance and fifty-meter tunnel passage in Visoko was a “natural cave”. There is no negative radiation in the labyrinth: cosmic (Hartmann, Curry and Schneider networks), natural radioactivity or negative energy from underground water flows. Therefore, this location is one of the safest on the planet and enables health protection and revitalization of the body. Air circulation is excellent and is achieved through different ceiling heights, which causes different pressure and natural ventilation. The slope of the tunnel is 1.5 degrees, which allows fine water drainage. The concentration of negative ions, which clean the atmosphere of bacteria and viruses, is several tens higher than the average, which explains the beneficial effect of the tunnel on the human body.
The Vratnica tumulus is a large prehistoric tumulus located in the municipality of Visoko in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is located on a hill overlooking the town of Vratnica and is considered one of the largest and most impressive tumuli in the region. It is 32 meters high. It was built using a combination of megalithic two-layer blocks, clay and concrete. The materials are stacked concentrically on top of each other. The mass of megalithic blocks reaches ten tons or more. According to georadar research by German geophysicists in 2007, the existence of underground passages was confirmed. Analysis of samples of concrete material in France in 2009 showed the presence of geopolymer cement as a binding material. In 2010, a team of Croatian physicists discovered the presence of an electromagnetic phenomenon – an energy beam at the top of the tumulus with a frequency of 28 kHz. The existence of energy phenomena on this prehistoric building has become a tourist attraction.
The site of Okolište and Radinovići, a prehistoric site located between the villages of Radinovići and Okolište, about 6 kilometers from Visoko. In 2006, they were declared a national monument by the Commission for the Preservation of National Monuments. The size and location of the Okolište settlement are unusual for Neolithic European settlements. The area is the largest and most significant Neolithic site in Bosnia and Herzegovina and is located along the road Visoko – Kakanj. According to previous research, it is estimated that around 3,000 people lived there during the Neolithic. It is estimated that the settlement was created between 4700 and 4500 BC. The settlement was of a closed type and was protected by five trenches. Ceramic products of the Butmir culture with very interesting ornamental decorations were excavated, as well as a whole series of specimens of other materials from polished axes to quartz blades. Undoubtedly, Okolište became one of the most important Neolithic sites in Europe.
The archaeological site of Mile is located in the immediate vicinity of Visoko, in today’s Arnautovići settlement on the right bank of the Bosna River and near the mouth of the Goruša River. Today, the archaeological site of Mile is a protected national monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Mile was one of the royal seats. The first Bosnian king Tvrtko I Kotromanić was crowned in Mila in 1377. Under the large tombstone in the church, the remains of a brocade cloth with coat of arms motifs with a shield, veil, crown, helmet and feather were found. , in the tomb of King Tvrtko I. Questions of Bosnia’s internal and foreign policy were resolved at the assemblies. Among these issues were the election and coronation of rulers, the bestowal and confiscation of possessions, the alienation of state territory and the determination of foreign policy. Mauro Orbini and many Franciscan chronicles state that Ban Stjepan II built the church of St. Nicholas in Miletus and that he was buried there according to his own wishes. The tomb of King Tvrtko is located in the back part of the church choir.
